Overview[]
Elsewhere is a world that overlaps our own and is home to many of the fantastical creatures in human mythology. Gods, Fae, Daemons and all other sorts of beings roam there.
Although its geography corresponds somewhat to our own, Elsewhere is in constant flux with paths and locations shifting around. Likewise, time seems to move differently from our own. The laws of physics, although we don't know how or why, differ from our own in a such a way that most advanced technology, particularly anything that involves electronics more complicated than a fist-sized transistor, does not work at all.
In-game we regularly cross over to Elsewhere and back. Numerous story events take place there, and relatively early on the player unlocks the ability to explore, find loot and fight its more unsavoury denizens for experience and profit.
At the end of book 1 the player moves from Edinburgh to live permanently in Elsewhere.
Glades[]
Glades are locations in Elsewhere that have been anchored to provide a stable living environment, typically for human(oid)s. They do not shift around making it possible to live and build there, although they are still at risk from attack. Examples of Glades are Camelot and The Lake.
Portals[]
Travel to and from Elsewhere is typically done through portals, although a mage can pass from Elsewhere to our world relatively easily without one, while going from our world to Elsewhere is much harder. There's a portal in the basement of the Locations#Crowley, conveniently allowing the player to go to Elsewhere when they want. Other examples of portals are Stonehenge and the standing stones at the Clan Farm compound in Bellanoch.
Demon Forts (Book 2)[]
Introduced in Book 2, Demon Forts are designed to be optional high value targets for people who want a real fight.
The first one is attacked in force (4 powers, 1 god and a full 5 fists) however later ones will be done alone or just with Katie.
